Instructions for the FreeHand Baby Mei Tai

B a c k   C a r r y

To wear your baby on your back, your baby should be old enough to hold her head up. Start by tying the bottom, shorter straps around your waist comfortably.

From birth, you can wear your baby in the front carrying position. This carry allows you to be close with your baby and still get things done like housework, shopping, visiting with your friends and taking care of your family. To start this carry, you tie the bottom waist straps to your waist, leaving the body in front of you.

Then holding your baby at your hip, slide them on your back,

Hold your baby in front of you and bring the body up over her back, tossing the shoulder straps over your shoulders

Bending forward slightly to help support the weight. Using one hand to hold your baby, use the other hand to lift the body of the carrier over the baby's back

While supporting your baby with one hand, grab the shoulder straps and cross them over your back and bring them around to the front, crossing them under your baby's bottom.

Then bring the straps up over your head, bouncing slightly to make sure your baby is in snugly,

Bring the straps around to the back and tie. Don't be afraid to adjust the carrier to get the height and tightness you need to feel secure.

Bring the straps down and under your baby's bottom, crossing the straps and bringing them in the front to tie.

Another way to do this is crossing the straps across your chest to distribute the weight differently. This type of carry takes practice. Make sure you try this at home before attempting at an outting. Don't give up!!!
